Best product for making your own sunscreen Since discovering this, I have been making my own sunscreen. I use three times as much of my favorite skin cream as this product, by weight, and use my kitchen mixer to blend it to creamy, lightweight perfection. No more harsh chemicals! If you have oily skin, you don t have to put anything on your face before using this formula. If your skin is more dry, you might try putting a little coconut oil on first. It s a winner: best quality sunscreen that is healthy, made to order, and extremely cost-effective. 5Good SPF I like adding it to body cremes that don t already have SPF protection.You may need to grind it in coffee grinder to make a finer powder to mix with cremes. 5Rosacea This product is the best. After buying so many products for my face, and seeing how my face will breakout with all the niceties that rosacea brings, I decided to make my own moisturizer with sun protection.I read a lot of recipes and tried. I have an oily combination skin so, I mix 20% of nano zinc oxide, 15 drops of rose-hip oil, 1 drop of tea tree, and 7 drops of oil grape seed.I can go out and enjoy a hot day of summer under a 90 degree, reel feel 104 degrees, sun in Louisiana. 5Awesome for homemade sunscreen!! Made my own sunscreen cream- no one was burnt by the end of the 3 hours outdoors playing- very happy with the product. 5and based on how it coats the inside of the bottle I'd say those of in the family who are Type I or II on the Fitzpatrick scale are going to have a good weekend at the water park I was not sure if it would mix well, but I threw 5 tbs of this with 3/4 cup California Olive Ranch olive oil (one of the few true oo) into a water bottle and shook it up -- no clumping, and based on how it coats the inside of the bottle I'd say those of in the family who are Type I or II on the Fitzpatrick scale are going to have a good weekend at the water park. 5Very fine powder easy to mix with your preferred lotion n ... Also, I mix it with jojoba oil for an acne spot treatment. Dries pimples right up. 4From sunscreen to tile sheen, it's great! Great to brush teeth AND believe it or not, sprinkle some on shower tile floor and lightly moisten. Scrub and leave on for a while and voila, white and clean! Oh yeah, great natural sunscreen. (Non Nano--you want that type and this is non nano!) 5Did you know... ...that not only is zinc oxide powder good for sunscreen and diaper rash but also you have the ability to your own make up with it? I know, right? Here I have been cleaning my house out of unwanted chemicals from foods, cleaning products, and skin care yet I was still using chemically laden make up that my body was absorbing! There is another way! Here are a couple of the recipes that I absolutely love and use, just remember to adjust to your own needs and it's best to use products that are unrefined, organic and non GMO :)Here is a smooth finish foundation with sunscreen by Jessica Healey:*Ingredients (makes about 5oz):-1.5 oz Almond oil or any unrefined, raw organic carrier oil of your choice-1 oz of shea butter-0.5 oz cocoa butter-0.5 oz of beeswax-1/8th vitamin E-0.5 oz Sky Organics Zinc Oxide-Cocao powder-Cinnamon*Tools: double boiler, kitchen scale, whisk and container for finished product.*Make: Using your scale and the tare function, measure and combine the first five ingredients into the glass bowl into your double-boiler. DO NOT add the zinc oxide, cocoa powder, or cinnamon!Completely melt the first five ingredients, stirring occasionally with your whisk. Remove from heat and allow time to cool a bit (a few minutes and wipe excess moisture off the outside of your bowl, too). Place your bowl back on the scale, hit tare, and add in spoonfuls of zinc oxide until you get to .5oz. This gives you approximately a 20 SPF coverage (as it s approximately 10% of the total weight read more about sunscreen here). Pass through a fine sieve into another bowl, pressing through with the back of a spoon to break up the clumps. Pass back and forth, pressing and smashing until you don t notice white streaks anymore as you mash the mixture through the sieve.Add the oils, stir, and then press through the sieve, passing back and forth until the mixture is uniform again.Begin adding the oxide, 1/8th of a teaspoon at a time, passing back and forth through the sieve after each addition. Test the mixture between each addition (brush some onto your cheek or inner arm with a blush brush for a realistic test) to check the colour. 3/4 of a teaspoon ended up being right for me, but it might not be for you.Would I recommend this to a friend or a fellow future purchaser?
