Takes 10x as long to shave as a regular razor ...Takes 10x as long to shave as a regular razor. You have to repeatedly go over the same spot 10+ times.1Rendering it useless. It does get you a similarly close shave ... On my 3rd shaver. The clip that holds the blade is ridicoulsy brittle and fragile. If you do not set this shaver down in a safe spot, on a memory foam pillow, as if it were a piece of 237 year old glass, it will break. Rendering it useless. It does get you a similarly close shave compared to a standard Gillete razor, but as far as etching it's not effective. Rather disapointed because that was why i purschased it, especially for the price and quality. 1Shaves close enough to look like you shaved and slept for 6 hours and just woke up.Like a handheld $1 Disposable shaver but electric. Some quick personal info: I dont have ingrown hairs (shaving doesn't cause ingrown hairs), shaving doesn't make my skin bleed (unless i deliberately cut myself), my facial hair grows fast within 12-24 hours resulting in stubby mutton chops and sideburns.OneBlade Shaves close but not as close as a disposable razor. Just close enough to look like you shaved and slept for 6 hours and just woke up.This is really good for pre-trimming before using a electric shaver in my opinion and usage. My facial hair grows fast, and usually within 12-24 hours, there's almost 1/2 mm of hair like a fresh shadow of friendly mutton chops.Hard part is the sideburn/mutton chops is very resistant to my Philips Norelco Shaver 4600, even with fresh new blades. There's alsways a few stragglers that just won't get shaved off. This OneBlade Changes Everything! ~at least for me.I use the oneblade as a prep shave, and gleam it all over my sideburns (without the combs) and keeps all the hair nubs spiky to the touch. Then in a few swift swipes, the Philips 4600 cleanly takes off all the sideburn and 5'o clock shadows possible.Feels smooth and clean without the need of shaving cream or gels.==== Clean up and Usage =====Sad how charging takes 8 hours jsut for 45 minutes. Haven't actually used it past 45 mins. Never in my life have I had a shave that took 45 minutes.Charging receptacle is a new OEM that is NON-STANDARD to all previous Norelco shavers. It still looks like the two cylinders but smaller with a plastic line like a safety ring.Replacing the OneBlades blade is easy, simply push up where teh arrow indicates and its off.To replace, simply press a new one in until it makes a very light snap sound.Completely waterproof, though i do NOT recommend submerging the Oneblade or flushing the charging port with water. For <$40 for an electric razor, seem spricey but decent. For those of you expecting the perfect shave, maybe look elsewhere, as I previously mentioned, it shaves just close enough where you can feel teh stubs by touch. Unlike disposable razors that shaves so close you can cut yourself, you won't get a smooth skin glide finish.Hoever this is perfect for me since it pre-preps and cuts my facial hair as low as possible, so i can simply glide my Philips 4600 for a clean smooth shave.5It's good but there's a couple of things you should consider Well overall the trimmer is good, let's break it down in two:- The face: I use it to trim my beard and shave at the same time both my cheeks and my neck, if you take your time with it, then you'll get good results and a nice clean shave with no water or other products. The trimming combs on the other hand, need constant cleaning because the hair gets stuck on them.- The body: although it can provide a good shave/trim (pretty close with the sensitive comb) all over you gotta watch out specially when taking care of your "man jewels". If you try to go a little bit too fast it WILL cut you. So if you take your time around them and just be patient you can get great results with it down there. So the sensitive comb is not that good as the braun bodycruzer because it doesn't cover the "shaver blades" (while the braun doesn't have a shaver so no risk there) which is the device I had prior to this one, even after a couple months I still feel that the Braun device is safer on the body and Down there... But this is a good start from Philips and you should try it if you're looking for a new body trimmer or a good face/beard trimmer/shaver. 4Decent shaver/trimmer, but not a replacement for a razor This doesn't shave as close as a regular razor would, but that is fine with me. I actually prefer the look of what I call, "yes I shaved today but it looks like I can grow facial hari if I wanted to" also known as a 5 O'clock shadow maybe.I like that it seems to create less ingrown hairs than my 5-bladed razor that I have been using. In the video I discuss some other points about the trimmer, but ultimately the lack of a battery indicator, questionable life of the blades, and how it simply doesn't work well on some parts of my face is why its only a 3/5. 3Easy 5 o'clock shadowDefinitely the least irritating shave I've ever had. However, I believe it's got so many 5 star reviews due to the huge amount of people it was given to for free. It definitely doesn't shave anywhere near as close to even a normal cheap electric razor. It does give you a freshly shaven five o'clock shadow though so if that's all you're looking for, it's perfect. Just control your expectations going in!3Be Careful I was excited about having a razor that does it all. I just wish I knew what was in store for me. Keep in mind, this could entirely be my fault, so I'm not judging and convicting here, just laying out what happened to me so I might save someone else from the same type of thing.I received my new razor on Aug 31, 2018.Using this razor for the first time was great. I loved how easy it was to use. The reason I got it was because a friend of mine purchased one.The way I found out about it was during a business meeting one day, I noticed him running this thing along his cheek and I asked him what he was doing and what that thing was that looked like a razor. He said it was the Philips Norelco OneBlade hybrid electric trimmer and shaver and he was shaving with it because he didn't have time to shave before the meeting. So I checked it out and it looked pretty innovative and I liked the concept of it. The next day I ordered one from Amazon and when I got it, I went picked it up to try it out and accidentally dropped it in the bathroom sink. I saw that the blade section had come off and I wasn't too concerned. I've been shaving for 30+ years and that's happened to me a lot of times before. However, when I went to pick it up and snap it back together, I saw that the plastic blade stem itself had broken. It was so tiny and so fragile there was no gluing it back together even with PRO Super Glue (and trust me, I tried). So I sent the seller a message saying exactly what happened and they sent me a return label and a brand new razor and I had it in 2 days.Still on my mind about how many times I've dropped my old fashioned razor in the sink, the tub, the ground on a camping trip or any number of other places and all I had to do was snap it back together. So I resolved that this new progressive time we live in came with some drawbacks and I would just not be able to drop my new razor anymore if I wanted to keep using it. Especially when the replacement blade is $25 bucks a pop just for one blade refill. Now here's the clincher. The fragility of this really cool and convenient device is NOT the reason I'm writing this review...I had that image of my friend/business associate shaving just prior to the meeting a couple of weeks earlier and I thought that was pretty cool. So I couldn't wait until I was able to benefit from this new magical razor in the same way.Sure enough, I was running late for a meeting and had not shaved yet, so I figured, no problem, I'll just run into the bathroom at work and shave before the meeting and that is what I did.The important thing to know about this razor is that the flat side of the blade itself is meant for shaving your face, but it doesn't shave all that close. it keeps a 3 o'clock shadow which is fine for a weekend party with friends, but not for a work meeting. So if you want a close shave, you have to sit there and keep running the razor over your face several times and shave your beard down a little more each time. OR, you can do what I did...The edge of this razor is for trimming side burns, mustaches, etc. I assumed, but I found pretty quickly that if I used the edge to shave the cheek and chin and neck area, it cuts the beard down much quicker than the flat edge of the blade does.I hadn't seen any warnings or "BE CAREFUL" messages in the literature and unless I completely missed it due to my failing eyesight, there wasn't anything like that having to do with using the edge trimmer part of the blade for shaving your face. It's also possible that this type of incident is something new that they had not counted on during their product development. If it was, I'm sure they would have had LARGE UNMISTAKABLE words that said, "CAUTION ~ READ THIS MESSAGE FROM NORELCO BEFORE USING THE DEVICE".So I used it the edge of the razor on my face and I got my beard shaved down quickly and I had a clean shave for the meeting. About a day later after I had time to look in a mirror, I noticed a red circle on my cheek and 3 large blotches on my chin and one blotch on my neck. I assumed it was just a rash from the new razor and my face getting used to it.What it actually was however, literally did not even occur to me. Not even the possibility of what happened to me entered my thoughts. As I mentioned, I've been shaving for many years and nothing like this had ever happenedI figured it was from the razor and just a little rash and it would be gone in a day or two just like every other facial rash I've ever had from sunburn or shaving with a new razor for the first time.A week later when these red marks were still there, I decided to take a really close look at them with a magnifying glass and what I saw was frightening. Where I had used the edge trimmer to get a quicker shave with my new wireless super razor, every one of those red marks appeared to be gashes where the skin on my face was actually removed. Since it was a week after I had used that razor because sometimes I go for a week without shaving, these red marks were beginning to form what appeared to be permanent scars. It's well over 4 months. Yes, I waited that long because I thought for some reason it would go away and I guess I denied that it was what it was (permanent?) I still don't know and I'm writing this in January 2019 and it's still there. It's faded a little, but not much.I kept telling myself that this time would pass and these red marks would go away but they never did. I now have faint scaring on my face everywhere I had used that razor and perhaps pressed a little too hard or ran the blade over my face too many times causing a red mark where not only the beard was removed, but so was the skin on my face.I'm now at the point where I don't know what to do. I thought about suing, but who do I sue? What are my grounds? That I was too stupid to not use the edge of the razor sand sacrifice my face for a quicker shave? But how could I have known it would do this. I've used blades made out steel, 5 of them lined up next to each other andI've never received permanent scars from it.I didn't see any warnings in the literature saying not to use that part of the blade to shave with and it was easy just to flip the blade up and use that edge part to get a quicker shave.Nothing jumped out at me warning me to use caution and not to run the trimmer blade over my face too many times. I didn't want a 3 o'clock shadow for a business meeting and I didn't have time to run the flat part of the razor over my face 6 times to get a closer shave. So who's fault? Who knows. All I know is that I haven't used my new razor since I saw these red marks on my face and I've been purchasing scar ointment here on Amazon to try and get my face back to the way it was before I bout this amazing new technology contraption.I uploaded some pictures so you should get a pretty good idea about what happened to me by looking at my before Norelco and after Norelco pictures. 2The 'OneBlade' razor was great the first time I used itThe 'OneBlade' razor was great the first time I used it, however the second time The razor broke off.1Does what I Bought it for Great. Pros... Shaving performance is great for a 2 or 3 day growth. Fast and easy on the skin too .Cons.. 8 hour charging time seems excessive for 45 min of run time, but 45 min equals a lot of shaves for me. Average shave time is 5 min. Charging instructions don't specify whether the charger can be left connected and there is no indicator that says charging is complete It needs a plug-in stand to charge in, either counter based or wall based Replacement Blades are expensiveUpdate.. Changed to 5 stars.. I still haven't had to recharge it after a month of use so it seems like a worthwhile investment in time. Still would love a stand or a wall bracket holder for it though.. For my use it really works great. Very pleased with this item.. Not cheap but its a good example of "you get what you pay for." .Update2.. The stand wall bracket problem has been solved too .. See the following..https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01ED97QTG/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_2Update 3 - I still have not had to recharge this shaver after almost 6 months of use. Charging time is not an issue any more.Update 4 - Almost a year has gone by since I bought this, it gets used once or twice a week and I still haven't had to recharge it, the blade is as good as when it was new.. Couldn't be happier with this product.. 5Gimmicky I bought this product to use for mostly body touch ups. As you use it, you can literally watch as it somehow doesn t trim the hair at all. You run it back and forth tons of times, even try different attachments and it only gets maybe 10% of the hair in one slow stroke. Completely a waste, and overpriced. Nothing I ve used compares to a simple plug in, Wahl brand trimmer. 1Incredibly cheap plastic that breaks off Updating review, the shaving mount is incredibly cheap. I like it when the plastic isn't breaking leading it to be thrown in the trash. Have gone through two of these in 6 months. Will not be buying again. 1You are missing the point: Hybrid product, NOT a replacement product!People, please "listen" (aka: read!), you are missing the point! This is NOT made to replace your traditional BLADE razor, AND it is NOT made to replace your traditional electric razor! This is hybrid product made to solve the way most men (15 - 55?) shave and trim today. If you want baby-smooth military level shaving (any place, head to toe) this is not the product for you. If you want to fast and effectively trim down facial and body hair to "1/2 - 3/4 of the way to a 5'clock shadow" this is what this product will do.You can shave dry or wet: IMHO, for best results (and more stubble) use it DRY and slow. For a SLIGHTLY closer shave, use wet and press down harder. P.S. You CAN cute or abrade yourself. Why only four stars? Allow me to detail:1) They had an opportunity to lengthen the handle and fill it with a bigger battery - they should have.2) Should have made the blade portion either longer or for it to come in sizes/widths (huge miss).3) What's wrong with black? (hideous colors).4) Sales and marketing idiocy: you do NOT have to replace the razor head every four months (or even at all). It will last a year-plus (longer than you will own it) - they should have turned this into a anti-establishment-cost-saving-win (think Telsa) versus an "OMG - the freakin' blades cost how MUCH?!" barrier to entry.5) Biggest negative comes from the guides (labeled 1, 3 and 5) they are NOT bidirectional but the razor head is? These were clearly the same engineers that worked on the Mars mission were the craft landed on the surface of Mars and grabbed the lens cap as the surface sample before blasting back to Earth. Two way razor, with a two way guide would make a TON more sense!4Good idea, terrible design. The razor itself it good, but the flimsy plastic blade guards are absolutely junk. The tiny little tabs become loose after a few uses and will eventually not hold the guard in place. Despite the fact they re both super cheap AND critical to the performance of the razor, they are not readily available for purchase as replacements. The Norelco customer service dept. wants $20 for a replacement guard.. may as well buy a whole new razor (not). Norelco, improve the guard design and this razor would be 5 stars. 2In the Facial Hair war of attrition, a new contender emerges. Ever since my dad first showed me how to shave, at that time with an electric razor, I've had an extended war with my facial hair. The electric razor always seemed to leave short stubble on my face, mostly not visible, but the cut was rough, and it could be felt. It also felt like it was yanking my skin around. Never felt completely satisfied with that shave, and my skin felt irritated afterward. The only upside was that it was quick, and had very little mess.So when I got a free razor from a well-known razor manufacturer, whose blades are named after 3x the speed of sound, and I shaved with this and shave gel for the first time, it was a revelation. My skin was smooth! Sure there were some cuts, but it wasn't bad. Time and practice would fix that. Then the problems started. I simply couldn't shave with an actual razor every day. It was shredding my skin. Over the years I looked for better tips, guides online, videos; tried less pressure, going with the grain, pulling my skin as tight as possible; tried different gels and creams for sensitive skin, lotions, soaps, lathers; heating my face with painfully hot towels and shaving only in the shower; fewer blades, more blades, safety razors. Nothing. My skin was tissue paper every time I tried to shave more than one day in a row.I longed for the convenience of the electric razor, with the smoothness offered by shaving with a blade. I tried several very pricey electric razors, even the ones with lotions that could be used wet. Spent hundreds on them, only to have them end up sitting on a shelf.I gave up eventually and just settled for the fact that I could manage a once-a-week shave and live with a short neckbeard for a couple days. Then I saw this product. It was inexpensive. It seemed new and different from things I'd tried before. For $35, I figured I'd try one more new product. It just arrived and I just tackled my current neckbeard with it. Wow. It felt nothing like any other electric razor I've used. There was no dragging. No hair pulling. The shave is definitely not as close as you can get with a blade, but doing a few extra passes to get it as close as possible is not irritating at all. One minor abrasion when I experimented with getting a little closer. No need to lather up - although you can. Far less mess than a blade. This is the thing that I can use to maintain a cleaner look with the rest of my beard - FINALLY.If your story is similar to mine, give this a try. Other than $35, and potentially an annoying shaving schedule, what have you got to lose? 5The head broke after the first use. I found this to be a pretty decent razor for the price, but the rubber arms on one side of the head broke after the first use. The cut I was getting was pretty good, but the QC is dissapointing. I super glued the arms back on, as I need to be shaving daily (in a military environment) but I doubt that will hold for very long. 1
