Tiny bottles, was not so concentrated that I needed to use less I am a man with limited knowledge of the finer details of hair care, so take my review with a grain of salt...Purchased these on a whim looking around for mint scented bath products. These bottles are TINY! The top review seems to think you don't need to use as much but that was NOT AT ALL my experience. I attempted to use a quarter as much as I usually and was not able to coat my short hair. If anything I felt like I had to use MORE shampoo and conditioner than usual. The scent was pleasant enough but not bursting with mint like I'd hoped. I did not notice any difference in the way my hair felt afterwards. Certainly no dramatic jump from the normal generic stuff I usually get. Again, if anything my hair felt LESS clean and LESS soft after using Maple Holistics (when compared to normal generics).I thought at the price I would get some value, but no... these tiny bottles really are 3-4 times more expensive than regular old stuff.Tiny bottles. Meh quality. Expensive. 1Shampoo gets your hair VERY clean, conditioner is light-to-medium strength I accidentally found this brand while searching for something else and decided based on the positive reviews to try this combo out seeing as how it's winter and all. :-) Note: I have long, fine, color-treated hair, so not only do I need color protection and moisture, I also can't have products that are too heavy or my hair gets weighed down.Winter Blend Shampoo:As another reviewer states, this particular shampoo gets your hair squeaky clean...I'd call it a clarifying shampoo, really. This is great for say, a once a week deep clean if you use a lot of hair products, but I found it to be too much for frequent use. So I have decided to use it a couple of times a month rather than every time I wash my hair because otherwise it would dry my hair out. When used with the Silk 18 conditioner (if I use enough) my hair is really clean and feels so light, like when I leave the salon (because your hair stylist will always use less product than you do at home). I love the smell of this blend...it smells like real mint(s) rather than the fake peppermint you'd normally get with regular shampoos. Pleasant and not at all overwhelming.Silk 18 Conditioner:I would call this a light-to-medium strength conditioner. I was using the Acure brand conditioner (lemongrass) and it was just too heavy for my hair, even when I would use a tiny amount. This conditioner is definitely lighter and compared to the Acure I have to use twice as much but the upside is that my hair isn't weighed down at all. It's soft but not over-conditioned. I do wish that it would make my hair a tad softer, though. I am going to experiment with adding a tiny drop of coconut or argan oil to the conditioner to see if that helps. Regarding the smell...I love it...like the shampoo, it's a real vanilla smell versus the fake scent you get from regular conditioners but I agree with other reviewers that it's pretty strong. Since I just had a baby I can say that if I had tried to use this conditioner in my first trimester (when you have the nose of a werewolf) there is no way I could have handled it. So if you're pregnant, hold off on this until you have the baby. :-) On the plus side, it ensures your hair smells really good for a while.I would definitely buy from this company again but I'd like to try other shampoos to see if there's one that is not as clarifying as the Winter Blend. If you need a clarifying shampoo then definitely get this combo. Vanilla Mint is a lovely smell. :) 4Need Convincing? I've used Maple Holistic's "Silk 18 Conditioner" for years and love it. So I was excited to give this set a try. If you are reading reviews and are debating about this set, let me do my best to address your concerns. If you are concerned about the:1. Size vs. price of the bottles: I have really long, thick hair and have struggled in the past with the amount of product it requires each time I wash it. This shampoo and conditioner is highly concentrated and only requires about a quarter sized amount of product to wash my hair. (See pics) Since I only wash my hair once a week, these bottles will last me about 8 months. That is actually a pretty good value if you look at it like that. If you're hair is shorter than mine, yours will probably last much longer.2. Ingredients: (From the photos and NOT the website) Aqua, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Lauroamphoacetate, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Sodium Lauryl Glucoside Carboxylate, Lauryl Glucoside, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Acrylates Copolymer, Coco-Glucoside, Glyceryl Oleate, Phytokeratin, Simmondsia chinesis (Jojoba) oil, Peppermint (Menthapiperita) oil, Spearmint (Menta spicata) Oil, Wild Mint (Mentha arvensis) Oil, Bergamot Mint (Menta citrate) Oil, Eucalyptus Mint (Eucalyptus polybractea) Oil.* If you're concerned about any of the ingredients, I looked each one up on the EWG website. All of the non-essential oil ingredients were ranked with a "1" in the Skin Deep Cosmetics Guide. Some of them had "limited" or "none" in the data section. I didn't look up the essential oils because I'm assuming you know about the benefits/concerns of EOs if you are wanting to know about specific ingredients. ;)I'm really picky with the ingredients I put on myself, on my children, or in my house. I actually make almost all of my own soaps, cleaners, and lotions myself. Anyone who has ventured into making products themselves knows that shampoo and conditioner are a hard transition. None of these ingredients gave me reason to be concerned. I would have no problem using them on my children, but I don't know the concentration of certain essential oils, so I don't use this on them.3. Scent: I am crazy picky about smells and I avoid products that have "fragrance" on the ingredients list. For Maple Holistics to use only essential oils to scent this set, I'm thoroughly impressed!! This smells A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.!!! It smells like mint candies! (YUM!)4. Quality: As previously mentioned, I have really long hair and it tends to be on the dry side. This is silky smooth. For real. You will probably be surprised how silky your hair feels afterwards. I also have NOT noticed my hair having build up like some shampoos/conditioners tend to feel.My overall opinion (if you care to know) is that I DEFINITELY recommend this!If you found my review informational, please click "helpful" below. Thank you! 5I love it I took a shot on this shampoo and conditioner because it's natural and because of the positive reviews and I'm very glad I did! I'm a convert to Maple Holistics now. It works beautifully and smells delicious. The shampoo you'll definitely want to follow the instructions and leave it in for a couple minutes. And the conditioner, oh it's lovely. When you put it in, it gives off a cool tingling sensation. The real perk is that that cool sensation lasts all day (no it won't be as strong as when the conditioner was in your hair, that should be obvious, so don't complain). My hair is short but I get hot easily so it coming up on summer I appreciate that the conditioner leaves a nice cool feeling on my scalp all day. I am absolutely buying this again. 5Absolutely love this product! Natural Mint shampoo & conditioner is now my favorite. I have thick, long, dry, wavy hair that I also dye. I've tried numerous different brands and types of shampoo & conditioner and usually switch to other ones each time I buy, sometimes going back to one I've previously used. But this is the first time in my 58 years that I repurchased the same product twice in a row when it ran out. I love how it smells, and how clean, soft and manageable my hair feels with this product. A little goes a long way. My hair never feels weighted down with oil, and the frizzy fly-away hair is now tamed down. My hair is shiny and the hair dye doesn't fade. I'm very picky with my hair and what products I use and I will be buying this product again. I've already purchased it twice and I'm going to subscribe for it to be sent to me automatically once a month. It's the first time I've actually had a favorite shampoo and conditioner. I highly recommend at least trying it; and I think you won't be disappointed. 5Used mailing address to send marketing materials I tried this out, bought it with my own money and wasn't blown away. The bottle claims you should leave it on for a few minutes to allow the "theraputic benefits" to "osmose" but the only other mention of what benefits that actually could be was cooling sensation. I'm not sure I consider that a benefit, more of a "no duh" if you're going to put 5 kinds of mint scents in a bottle of seemingly basic shampoo. It's not making my hair any shinier, nor is it helping scalp problems.A few weeks after ordering, I received a postcard in the mail from the company offering a free full sized Winter product in exchange for a review.I'm not too happy about them using my mailing address to boost their own sales, and am fairly certain they've sold my info at this point, or at a minimum handed it over to some company that I don't know about. I'm not sure if sellers can use my address for marketing purposes. I shouldn't need to feel like I want a privacy policy when I buy a product from a third party seller. I'm not a seller and I have no interest in digging through the seller terms to see whether they can use my address to send junk mail, but I HIGHLY doubt this is acceptable. In summary: this is a basic, minty shampoo where the seller uses your mailing address to send marketing material after your order. 1Smells fantastic and feels good. I really like the smell of this product. I bought the peppermint product for my daughter who was going away to Girl Scout camp. Peppermint detracts mosquitoes and ticks. When she got back from camp, I used the rest of the bottles because I like the smell so much. The shampoo is VERY good at cleaning hair and will leave your hair smelling good and squeaky-clean but also needing the very effective conditioner. It's the kind of conditioner you put in and brush through and then your hair is silky smooth. 4YES!!! I have joked with a friend that I should have a garage sale with all the hair products I own that I've used once or twice and never again. My shampoo and conditioner (by a well known company) were leaving my hair dry and nasty. I have color treated hair and was pretty desperate when I did an Amazon search for yet another shampoo for my hair. After finding this shampoo and reading the reviews AND the companies guarantee, I ordered the Winter Blend and conditioner Silk 18 combo and waited for it to arrive. I have used it about 4 times now and didn't want to review it until I had used it a bit. I LOVE IT! I am shocked at how good my hair looks after using it and the shine that it has. I have extremely thick, but fine short hair and I can get away with just blowing it dry, but if I go over it a bit with a curling iron- OHMYGOSH- the shine is amazing. Have already recommended this to my "garage sale friend" and she just got hers. I am anxious to see how she likes it! :-) 5Great for chronic urticaria! I have chronic urticaria, which sucks. We've found that some of my hives are caused by many food allergies, but even when I avoid those foods, there are times I break out in hives, and they usually are fifty cent piece size on my head. The itching/burning drives me nuts and I've used everything I could think of when my prescription antihistamines aren't cutting it. I've gone so far as to cut my hair less than an inch long to be able to coat the hives in an essential oil combo to give me a bit of relief.I saw this and thought that it might help a bit.Oh sweet Lord, the relief. It doesn't get rid of my hives, but after a shower, I have around 5 blissful itch and burn free hours of time. That's longer than any essential oil combo on it's own has given me. I've laid in bed with multiple ice packs on different spots, trying to get some sleep as the ice numbs the hives.I follow the directions on the shampoo, lather (it lathers up great!), let it sit for 2-3 minutes, which is about how long it takes to feel the coolness start to seep into my scalp. Then I follow with the conditioner and leave it on for another 2-3 minutes. One non-hive thing, my 10 year old was laying beside me and running her fingers through my hair. She said mom, your hair is so soft. I agree. I've got natural wavy/frizzy/sometimes curly if I work it just right hair that doesn't always feel soft to the touch. I've also had problems with some all natural shampoos making my hair feel horribly dry until my hair "gets used to" the product. I haven't had that problem with this set.The smell is obviously strongly mint, which I actually love. It reminds me a bit of my grandma and pep-o-mint life savers. Now I need a lotion just like this for when the hives are anywhere else but on my head. It is amazing, especially for those of with chronic urticaria who are dying for relief.I need to stock up on this in case they ever stop selling it. 5Still damaging So the bottle says sulfate free, but it has like 5 different kinds of salts in it, which are just as damaging. I have been trying different sulfate free shampoos and this is the worst one I've used. The conditioner is fine. I think it's trying to make up for the fact that the shampoo strips your scalp from all its natural and healthy oils.I bought this because it was a lighting deal. Never again. I'll go back to getting my climatologist friend's advice before buying a new product. 1
