Customer Reviews

No directions I am disabled and have fine motor skill issues make it difficult to floss. My dental hygienist recommended and told me to buy on Amazon. I received 4, the price is reasonable, but it didn t come with any directions. I m not the brightest bulb in the pack, but I just couldn t figure this one out. Will take with me to dentist office on next visit. 1Skip I'm really disappointed in these.I hate putting my fingers in my mouth to floss. These do work, but not very well. You have to wrap a lot for it to stay tight in order to completely floss without have re-secure.One already cracked. I think there are better choices.... 3Works okay, but I expected better I figured I'd give these floss holders a try as an alternative to finger-wrapping numbness. My teeth are close together and I have a small-ish mouth. I only use Glide-type floss. The two biggest issues with these floss holders are: 1) The two arms are way too far apart, and 2) no matter how many times I wrap the floss around the wheel, even holding it in place with my finger alongside the wheel, slack always develops. #2 compounds #1. A small amount of slack combined with arms so far apart means I'm constantly hitting the roof or floor of my mouth trying to develop enough force to squeeze the floss between my teeth. If the arms were half as far apart, it would be a significantly better product. 3Getting the Job Done One of the important tasks as a senior in regard to your health is to take care of your teeth. I have been using this style of floss holder for a number of years and it definitely makes the task easier. Wrapping the floss around your fingers and attempting to get to the back of your teeth while the tips of your fingers turn red is at an end. There is the occasional hang up but this is a small price to pay for the overall convenience of being able to quickly get the flossing job done. 5Too big These are huge! They are difficult for me to use. The floss does stay tight on them for a bit. But I found myself having to tighten it. I like the concept because I am trying to stop using the plastic, disposable flossers. 2Work great lasting me around a year before they fatigue and break I floss after every meal and have been using these floss holders for about 3 years now. They work fine and I've noticed that they fatigue and break around the 1 year mark for me so I keep several on hand for when it happens.I like to use colored holders because its easier to see the floss against them when its time to unwind it from the little spool. I will keep using these until a better alternative appears on the market. 5These work. See my tips on how to use below I was not a flosser. I usually flossed around 2-3 times a year prior to a dental appointment. But for some reason, after the last visit (and there really weren't any observable changes) I decided to start flossing. Flossed daily for a week, but decided that I needed an aid. The three tiny sample floss aids that the dental office gave me were essentially worthless, no tension as the tiny piece of floss quickly pulled through the holes in the cheap plastic. I ordered these and really like them. Some people complain about the tongs being too far apart, but I found that as I wrapped the floss over and around them and then the spool that I just squeezed the two tongs towards each other before wrapping the rest of the floss string around the spool. When the tongs were released, these then created tension on the floss, keeping it nice and tight. I can reach my back molars and wisdom teeth without any difficulty. One catch, and this is not a device issue, but I have several caps/crowns on my teeth. When manual flossing, I feed the floss down into the gap and then release one end of the string and pull the string through the gap rather than lifting it back out. With these, the tendency is to pull it back up and I m a bit concerned about dislodging the crown. So I ll have to do most of my teeth with the device and then come back through and manually do those other 2-3 tooth gaps.INSTRUCTIONS: Here is how I use them. Cut about 18+ of floss string. Wrap 3 winds around the spool. Then run the string through the channel, through the two notches, and back through the channel. Now squeeze the tongs together about 1/16 to 1/8 or so and while pulling the string snugly, wrap the rest around the spool (just like you would with your finger). Release the tongs and the string should be tight. Use the assembly to floss a number of teeth. If the string should show wear/separation, simply unwind the last segment of the string from the spool and the tongs, and wrap another loop around the spool (kind of like wrapping another loop around your finger) and run the string back through the channels and the take up spool. It only takes about 10-15 seconds to do so. Continue with the flossing.I can t testify as to the longevity of the device, but they are cheap enough to replace if they get brittle over time. Some have reported they last around a year each. That is pretty decent in my book. Whether they last 3 months, 6 or 12, that is good enough for me at $2.25 each. It s not a major expense. Give them a shot.Kindly give this a thumbs up if you find this helpful. 5Buy 4, because you will eventually need all of them. My teeth are jammed together and I have a small mouth, which always made using regular floss almost impossible. My dentist gave me one of these, and it worked great in my situation. You will need to use unwaxed floss, becausethe waxed kind slips out of the winding button. But the plastic does break down from wearafter about a year of use. None of the popular pharmacies in the Detroit area carry this item. So, it is wise to buyfour of them when you can find them, because you will eventually use them all. Actually, the last time, I bought 3, andgave one to each of my daughters to encourage them to floss regularly. You only have one set of real teeth, and the stuffthat gets caught in between them which is untouched by brushing over time results in progressive bone infection and loss.Regular flossing IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS your dentist says! 5like. never knew I needed, but I did. These things work great. I'm not sure how you are supposed to use, but I wrap one end of long floss around the knob, then hold the other end with the handle. Then each tooth, I wrap once more around the knob to refresh the floss being used. My teeth in the back are so close together that it is difficult to get floss down between some of them as I can't fit my hands into my mouth as easily as my foot. 5Cumbersome! Great idea to save plastic waste but these are far too cumbersome when trying to floss inside the small area of the mouth. My husband gave up quickly stating, It s much easier to floss with my fingers. You have to also know that his hands and fingers are pretty cumbersome . Again, great idea but save your money and some frustration and pay extra for a more slender floss holder. 2
