Great product for those wanting to go old school This is one quality piece of hardware. Although the instructions are (I assume) in Japanese, the operation is easy to figure out on your own. I recommend the Feather Artist Club Pro-guard blades for this (I've tried several kinds). Take it slow and easy the first time you use it if you're not familiar with straight razors, and you shouldn't have any major issues or severe cuts. It's important to manually stretch your skin while shaving with this. 5Quality Made Feather SS I am enjoying using the razor as my first entry into straight razor use. The blades I chose are the Pro Guard.The razor feels good in my hands. I feel the tip weight in my fingers and am able to maneuver for detail shaving easily. The is a quality product as would expect from Feather. 5Go gently into the single-edge future! Feather SS is awesome!THis is my first foray into single-edge razor shaving, and I went for the gusto with the Feather Professional Super blades (suuuuuper shaaaarrrrppp!!) and this Feather SS Folding Handle Razor. Watched some videos on how to shave with a single-edge, didn't want a traditional straight razor and thought this would be a great transition from my years of safety razor shaving. It has been great, though you really need to have patience and NOT RUSH when learning how to use this razor - it's a beast that you can tame, but that will let you know who's boss if you aren't careful! I can say that shaving with this razor has made me a better shaver with the safety razor, because the Feather lets you understand the dynamics of what shaving should be -- or else! I look forward to shaving with it, but am also glad to have an Andis electric to polish up my beard growth to buzz off 5-o'clock shadow when I don't feel like an additional shaving session. In sum, I'm super happy with my Feather SS Folding Handle Razor, and understand the appeal of the same Feather SS Straight razor, which uses the same blades but doesn't fold. I thought it might be an awkward handle to learn to shave with, but I hold the folding one completely open some times and it makes sense to have one like that in the arsenal, but not right now!5Absolutely astounding.It's a good razor. I've heard great things about these Feather Artist Club razors, and found this more moderately-priced version, and it is every bit as good as I'd been led to believe. I just had my first shave with it, after years with high-quality DE-blade shavettes from Parker and Dovo, and this is MILES ahead of those in terms of ease of use, and difficulty to hurt yourself. I nicked myself good a few times, but that's only because I was working with really bad form.It's an amazing razor.5great all around razorI've used this blade for the last two years and i love it. It's a great starter blade. Because you don't have to worry about blade maintenance. I personally use the super blades, i bought two packs and at one shave a week I'm just now having to order more. I also personally enjoy proraso soap in the green container. There is a learning curve going to a straight razor, expect to cut your self. And expect to do it more than once. It's not a fast shave, but in my opinion after two years of only using a straight blade. I wont use anything else.5Great feeling tool for Barbers alike.As a Barber this Razor is great. Escoshop Japan fulfilled by Amazon sent Green razor twice, 3rd purchase was from Pride of US and finally received black razor.5Close shaves, great lines.I ve had it for about three months now I think and I m pretty fond of shaving in this fashion now. I ll probably get other straight razors later, but, for my first, I thought a disposable blade version would be a good way to start. I haven t been disappointed.The grip is light and plasticy, but not cheap feeling. The metal is solid and definitely doesn t feel cheap.I d recommend looking into the how-to and what all else you need if you are knew to wet shaving, if you don t already know. You ll know if you re putting too much pressure on it. Close shaves. Great lines. Good product.5Got rid of redness and irritation with this. Even with the skin irritation and redness that followed using Gillette Fusion or similar products I thought that there was no other way and so I kept using it from my 16th birthday up to my 22nd. By then, I got tired of hurting my skin and decided to do a little research. I read about straight razors and decided I was gonna give it a try. Although I've seen these Artist Club ones before, as everybody says that there is a steep learning curve, I decided to start with a more forgiving alternative, a straight razor that uses half of a DE blade. After trying multiple brands of DE blades I found that, for me, Feather caused the less damage, but even with those I'd still get redness and irritation. So, after a year, I decided to move to this, the Feather Artist Club Folding Handle Straight Razor, with the Feather Professional Super blades. The shaving is smother, I get no more redness or irritation and, contrary to what people use to say, will nick your skin less than a ordinary one with half of a DE blade. So my piece of advice if you are switching from multiple-blade Gillete Style to a straight razor shave, just jump the half-DE one's and go right to the Artist Club line. Just shave carefully for the first few times so you'll get used to the moves you need to learn and the pressure your skin can handle. 5Top of the line shavette systemI bought this product for personal use to learn with in conjunction to a traditional straight razor. I am very pleased with this product. I use AC Pro blades with it. The construction is solid and has a good weight to it. Folks often comment how unforgiving and ridges shavettes can be, but with normal careful use I ve found that it is not nearly as scary as some make it out to be. The blade exposure is even, the blade is very secure, and the shave is very smooth thanks to the ridges near the edge. The Feather AC system may well be the apex of shavettes. I am eager to eventually try the DX model.5Best shave I've ever had.Started wet shaving with DE razors and Feather bladed. Took the plunge to this razor. HOLY CRAP what a difference. It's weighted well, balanced, and uber sharp blades and handled very well. Outlines my goatee with perfection. I now only shave every 2 days and could probably get away with a third if I wasn't so anal about it. Only took a few shaves to learn proper technique and now it's down to perfection. This is THE perfect setup for me. Will not be making a change anytime soon. Tried the Dovo Shavette first. Little too light and wasn't completely thrilled with the blades not being as long as the holder without using specific blades that weren't all that great. This hits the spot. If you want to try a straight, but don't want to or can't spend time honing and stropping, buy this razor.5Not as scary as I thoughThis is an excellent razor. It was my first attempt into the "straight" type razors. The material is definitely quality. I was a little scared to try it based on the reviews where everyone says how excessively sharp the blades are and how easy it is to cut yourself. It is sharp and you should take your time but I was pleasantly surprised. Only one minor nick on my first shave and none since. So while you should take your time don't let other reviews scare you off. It's is important to have a light touch but if you do you will be fine. Maybe if you use this after only shaving with cartridges more care may be needed since pressure is used with cartridges. However if you have the hang of a safety razor and the lack of pressure used for that this is nothing to be scared of5I have to say I love this thingAfter having shaved with either Gillette Sensor type of razors, electric foil razors, or a combo of both for the last 35 years...I recently started the exploration process of using a straight razor.In that process I have tried several shavette types that use 1/2 of a double edge and have become very proficient with them rather quickly. Knowing this, I was somewhat hesitant to try the Feather SS as it's substantially more expensive then say...a Parker professional at only $24.That said, my Feather SS arrived a few minutes ago, and having just used it....I have to say I love this thing! It's a dream to shave with compared to any other I have used! Seriously...the difference is night and day!5
