TONER, not shampoo!! Left on for only 5.5 minutes - definitely not yellow! This is like no purple shampoo I ve ever used! Beware, this is like very potent toner. It stained everything it came in contact with purple - my hair, my skin, my fingernails, my white shower tiles. It definitely works, but I would recommend gloves and very gentle/conservative use. 4First Time Was Good, Second Time Was Fake I bought this item originally in October and the supplier was DEALS FOR ALL. I was using it consistently and it did wonders for my brassy hair; it works great! Then, I bought it again in December, this time from SalonGuys. I am certain that this was a FAKE. How do I know? I've been using the one from October, and I am familiar with its deep purple and its consistency. However, the one from December becomes EXTREMELY foamy and the foam eventually turns white! It also washes the purple out completely, so it shows a hint of purple then comes out in the rinse. This was NOT the one I was expecting. Beware! I am very disappointed since I was awaiting my product for a while, and I knew how it's meant to work.Edit: I bought it again from Johnson Distributors and again, it was a FAKE. Same thing happened when I used it on my hair; it appears as if the shampoo had purple dye instead of being a legit formula. It foamed up like crazy then turned white! Amazon, I don't want to have to keep calling in to get refunds for my fake items. I don't take pictures of myself in the shower, and I would to show this product, but I don't want to keep damaging my hair. 1Not quite what I thought it was, but what it actually IS is pretty awesome I'm greying and growing out my old blonde color. I *thought* this might take the yellowish tone of the old blonde color out of play. It didn't quite do that (several years... okay, decades ... of L'Oreal Preference might have been too much for it to cut through?). What it DID do, and the reason I'll keep using it, is take the grey that's growing in and remove all the 'dull' from it. What was a mousey dull steel wool is now an amazing silvery / white / stainless steel shine fest. I would never have expected that, but wow, I'm keeping it ; ) 4Fumes After using it 3 times, I m convinced that I m using a product that is either knock off or simply toxic for humans, animals, and the environment.First time using it, my left hand was pretty dry not damp from the shower, my hand was stained purple for half the day. Am I dying my hair? The toxic odor that comes from this product smells like something from the sewage, so strong of ammonia/aluminum/death. No pregnant woman or child should come near this product. Let s be honest, when you wash your hair in the shower, the water will run down your face from time to time. The water that went into my mouth left me feeling like gross-gagging for hours.Lastly, my blonde hilights came out brighter after the wash, close to silver and was totally happy with the color but I lost lots of hair. Like, LOTS. More than normal. There was 1 comb through and a small chunk of 5 strands came out and I m traumatized.I ve came to terms my body is not worth going through this kind of torture. Why is it so much cheaper than other purple shampoos?I used it 3 times in a span of 2.5 weeks to make sure it wasn t a fluke. I really tried liking this product, but there s no way am undergoing another wash with this product.Use at own risk. 1Not just a shampoo but also a toner, & not for EVERYONE! Being in the beauty industry I've had access to a lot of products, especially color care. I've tried just about every "violet wash" you can think of including Oribe Bright Blonde, Davines Alchemic, & Lakm Ultra Clair to name my top picks. However when I decided to bring this in with the promise of it not just to take away the brassy tones but to tone the hair for longer lasting results.I've had every shade of blonde, silver & even white over the years so these products are a must for me. I have to say that Fanola's No Yellow Shampoo is actually a great product, & I usually stick with Davines. However I have found this product works best when you work it. What I mean by that is1.Make sure your hair is CLEAN no product no build up as the product can't reach the focile. Also be VERY aware of your past color applications especially if you have multiple layers of different colors overlapping in your hair.2.Understand that this product was designed for color maintenance between color sessions, This is NOT a replacement for going & getting color, however it can prolong the time between visits with frequent use.3.Realize that everyone's hair & color level is different so the suggested directions may need to be ajusted to fit your needs, most importantly the duration in which the product stays in your hair. So I wouldn't pay too much attention to posted before & after photos as your color level varies in different lighting, (natural light is the best,) & many are edited.4.Dont expect miracles or instantaneous results, especially if you don't take the oxidation out of your hair on a regular basis (Once a week is generally recommended) you can't expect to buy this, leave it on for 10 minutes & have those cool tones back instantly.5.Do the work, it's more than just a shampoo which means there is more required than to just slap it on. You need to be massaging this product into your hair the majority of the time it's applied (Roots To Ends.)As you do this you'll notice that over the course of the application your color will start to change, ( again WITH REGULAR USE.)Side note: Any or most Violet products can be used on more than just blonde hair as the pigments in the color are removing unwanted oxidation or discoloration. This is a great product for silver, & grey as well.Don't get it confused with other pigmented products that come in other colors (Red,Copper, Brunette, etc.) as those revitalize the pigment in your hair boosting your color while violet is removing unwanted pigments.I absolutely love this product, I'm a level 9 with some highlift 10 & use it regularly.I would not recommend if you can't commit to regular use, & I would say that with almost any Violet product on the market, shampoo or conditioner. You're better off not saying it doesn't work, & spending the time you could be writing a bad review booking your next color appointment.I am in no way associated with Fanola or this particular line of theirs, I'm just a professional in the beauty industry that wants to educate the public. 5My hair dresser recommended this product and I had to text her to ... YOU GUYS!!!! My hair went straight to silvery white from a extremely brassy blonde with only a 5 minute application. My hair dresser recommended this product and I had to text her to tell her thank you because I am so obsessed with the results.Fist picture is a BEFORE to show the brassy blonde. The second is an AFTER just to show the spots I must have missed while washing and the third picture is an AFTER, just look at that silvery white <3 5IT WORKS IF YOU KEEP IT IN LONGER I was referred this product from a friend, but I am a brunette that had a grey balayage professionally done back in March. Although slowly (even with the right hair products), the grey color began to fade and my hair turned into a bright orange brassy disaster. Here is my experience with this product:At first, I didn't read a lot of the reviews to see how the product would work with my hair. I treated it like normal shampoo and followed the instructions on the bottle. With the first wash, I applied a decent amount and scrubbed it through my hair, leaving it in for a few minutes. I washed it out and then applied a conditioning hair mask. I was overall disappointed with the results with this wash, because there was little to no change in the brassy-ness of my hair. With hopes that it was my application that was off and not the product, one review (refer to it, sure it's a top review for this product) recommended to keep the shampoo in for roughly 10 minutes and to shampoo thoroughly beforehand. She also recommended to condition thoroughly afterwards since this product does dry the hair out slightly. And to MUCH GRACE this method worked. I used my normal color protecting shampoo, kept it in for a few minutes, rinsed, caked my hair in the purple shampoo, tied my hair in a hair bun and let it sit for 8-10 minutes. BE WARNED THIS DOES STAIN YOUR HANDS A LAVENDER PURPLE mainly under your nails and on the tips of your fingers, but it fades with a day or two (depending on how often you wash your hands in a day). Once I rinse, I cake my hair with my conditioning hair mask and rinse. After two washes (from when this review is posted), the brassy-ness is basically gone and I'm starting to get more of a grey tinted blonde almost identical to how it looked when I got it professionally done!!! I definitely recommend this product for those that already have bleached their hair and want to rid yourself of that brassy-ness! 5Wowza!! I'm not one to leave reviews. . . but this product deserves it! Holy cow! I was going to go into the salon to brighten my hair up, but after discovering this product I cancelled my appointment. I'm totally in love! This shampoo is not drying at all and just after two washes I achieved my desired results! I can't recommend it enough!Photo (from right to left): Before using Fanola, one wash, two washes.Love, love, LOVE!! 5Extremely pigmented and does what it says. Not for everyone though. Finally a purple shampoo that actually does something to my brassy hair! I have silver-white hair that is exceptionally hard to maintain due to how easily my hair gains brassy tones and how stubborn they are to remove. Shimmer Lights, Joico, Paul Mitchell, none of their toning shampoos will do a damn thing to my hair even if I leave them on for an hour. I normally have to dilute violet direct dyes like Pulp Riot or Pravana in order to make a dent in my brass. It's nice to not have to schedule a chunk of time to mix a batch of custom toner, painstakingly apply it, and then sit around for an hour while it does its stuff. This shampoo actually works really well and can cut a lot of time out of my bi-weekly color maintenance.Fanola actually tones though! It does take a while for my hair, and I have to put it on lightly damp or dry hair, but after 20-30 minutes my neutral toned platinum will be a cool, silvery-toned color. FWIW most people probably won't have to leave this on their hair anywhere near as long as I do because my hair is unusual in the amount of effort it takes to tone it even a little (stylists often have to tone it 3 times to get me out of the warm tones, normal people only take like 1 toning session). I have a couple little spots right at my crown that I still have to go in and correct with my diluted dye, but those are frequent problem areas that give me issues no matter what color or condition my hair is in so I don't think that's an issue on the part of this shampoo and rather just more of my hair being a pain. And i love that this doesn't dry out my hair excessively either. Despite having SLS in it it's actually pretty gentle which was surprising because I'm used to toning shampoos being so harsh on my curly hair that I have to deep condition after using one to even think about getting semi-manageable hair after.Be careful if your hair is extremely damaged and porous, you'll want to keep a close eye on your ends while this is on your hair and potentially rinse out some parts sooner than your roots or only apply the shampoo on the roots. Hair that's porous may end up turning lilac-grey if you leave this on too long. It will eventually fade out but no one wants random splotches of grey or purple among a platinum or light blonde.Be aware that this is not a shampoo for those with darker hair. It's PURPLE. Purple will only tone yellow and pale gold brass, if your hair is darker than about a medium blonde (level 8 or so) then it's not going to do anything for you and you'd instead need something blue based to combat your gold-orange tones. People with light blonde to platinum hair are going to see the most benefit here. So if you're using this on brown hair, it's not the shampoo's fault you didn't see results, it's you not using the correct color to counter your hair color. 5GIRL. You NEED this in your life. I have naturally almost black, thick, Asian hair that is highly processed and toned to high heaven just so I can be blonde. Not just sandy blonde. Platinum blonde. Now, any bottle blonde knows that purple shampoo is the sweet baby Jesus in a manger necessity that they MUST use if they don t want to end up looking like a wannabe ginger with greasy orange-tinged hair. It s just that blonde life.I have tried almost every purple shampoo under the sun, ranging in process from $7 to $70 a bottle. The top contenders so far have been Davines Alchemic Shampoo in Silver, L Or al Shimmering Lights Purple Shampoo, and now, THIS.Fanola takes the cake and is hands down the winner when it comes to toning even the most stubborn brass out. Seriously. Your granny needs this. You need this. GIRL. Go buy stock in this company. The pictures really do speak for themselves. My package arrived sealed tightly - no mess at all. I think they caught on that they needed to fix the shipping method and it seems to have worked. I opted for the smaller $10 bottle, which is a steal! You get SOOOO much product! The shampoo itself is the darkest (almost black) purple I ve ever seen. The consistency is a little more runny than say, Herbal Essences Shampoo. The smell is a little weird. Part chemical/black licorice being masked by a pleasant salon fragrance. It s certainly nothing unbearable and it goes away as soon as you wash with your own shampoo. I ve smelled way worse purple shampoos. This is pretty good. Now, the instructions and most people will tell you to wash with it and leave it for 1-5 minutes. I don t believe in following rules. Duh.I tried it in the shower on wet hair and left it on for about 10 minutes. Great results after just one use! And then, because I love a little lavender tint, I tried it on DRY hair, saturating it until almost black, and left it on for a whopping 30 minutes. Rinse until clear. And guess what? I LOVE IT. The lavender is not at all over powering but there s isn t a hint of yellow/brass in my hair. I swear it even lightened my roots too!The pros:1) Will definitely 100% work for you.2) Absolutely does what it says and does it well.3) Worth every penny (you get a ton of product).4) You can choose the strength/umph.The Cons:1) It WILL stain your hands. No really. Wear some gloves. Your welcome. It won t really stain your forehead, ears, or anything. The skin cells on the palms of your hands are similar to those in your hair and unlike the rest on your body. So, don t worry about anything else other than your palms/nails. Glove it up!2) It is rather drying, as most purple shampoos are. Get a good leave in conditioner and glop it on after you rinse in the shower. Put some coconut oil up in there. Moroccan Oil Hair Mask seems to work wonders for me.3) You will become addicted to having white/super bright blonde hair.Photos in order: After, during, before, before, before, the very first time I used Fanola for just 10 minutes. 5
