Best I tried These Work Best, or at least better than the 'Mother's Brand'.... I find that making a weak impression with your teeth works best, as making a strong one molds the plastic to go 'in between' your teeth, which was uncomfortable for me.I found it most comfortable as a light mouth guard, again, by initially making a light / weak impression with my teeth, instead of biting down as hard as possible, as the instructions say. 5Cleaning process is critical to make it last!I've been using mouth guards for several years now and these are by far the absolute best. I've read quite a few reviews from others that were unhappy stating the guard fell apart after very little use. Let me tell you folks, the MAJOR key here is to buy a denture case and soak it with a denture tablet every single day. DO NOT USE A TOOTHBRUSH OR TOOTHPASTE as instructed by the manufacturer. That is ENTIRELY too harsh and will actually speed up the deterioration of your mouth guard. My mouth guards always last waaaay more than six months - right at a year on average. The only reason I have to replace is because I eventually bite through it. Mine are never yellow or gross. It might sound odd but denture tablets are meant to gently clean expensive dentures and they are PERFECT for mouth guards as well.5Ahead of the CurveI've had bruxism for years, but have never heeded my dentists advice to buy a night guard until now. My teeth have been grinding down for years, but have recently become sharp at some points after wearing into fillings and crowns. My dentist told me that he could make a custom night guard for me at the office, but recommended that I try this brand first if I wanted to save some money. He said that if it didn't work, he could make the custom one. Well, thank God it did does work, as I saved a few Benjamins. And I guess I can claim, "#1 Dentist Recommended".I've never made a night guard before, but it was almost as easy as buttering bread. The most difficult part of the process was opening the package. The instructions were very clear, and within a few minutes I had made my night guard.I've worn retainers before, so sleeping with an appliance in my mouth wasn't a problem, altought I don't recommend blenders. The first few nights the separation between my upper and lower teeth was a little weird, but I quickly got used to it. And as far as I can tell, this guard doesn't hinder breathing in anyway ether. What I did notice, almost immediately, is after using the included tray to make a mold of your teeth, a small 2cm ridge is created at the front of the guard, behind your front teeth. It felt somewhat sharp at first, but as someone who had braces, I knew my mouth would soon get used to it and I barely even notice it now. However, this may be an issue for some. I've also read a review where then reviewer mentioned the guard being too short and not having enough coverage for the very back teeth. I haven't had this issue, however, I've had four teeth removed (two upper, two lower) before my braces were put on. Looking at the night guard, I can see where only half of my back teeth are still on the guard. Had those four teeth not been removed, the guard definitely would not have covered my last molars. I've also had my wisdom teeth removed, so if you have wisdom teeth as well. I'd say keep looking if you want full coverage.I did read a review where someone said they chewed through this guard in two weeks. All I have to say about that is, "Brother, maybe you should be looking for something labeled Goodyear on the side." Two weeks, good Lord, I must be a lightweight. I've gotten months use from this night guard so far, and it looks like it's got awhile to go yet. It does require a little cleaning every once in awhile though, as "stuff" tends to build up on it after a few weeks. Also included in the box was a nice blue case, with vent holes. I keep my guard in it beside the bed.Maybe this guard was designed for the 3% of the population, like me, who have had four bicuspids and all their wisdom teeth removed. Or maybe because of the separation the guard makes between your upper and lower teeth, it's not much of an issue. But I tend to believe the reviewers who have had problems from lack of coverage. So, I guess if you have a small bite or are missing a few teeth, proceed. All others, pass.I hope this review helps and remember, it's my dentist's #1 recommended night guard... because that means almost as much as putting "Pro" in the name.4This is a great product. I ve been using it for years. My wife recently started using it. I only had a problem with the first one-it tore. I called customer service, and they replaced it immediately. I was asked to send them proof of purchase, but they replaced the unit before I even sent it. I never again had a problem. It s easy to fit and comfortable in my mouth. Each unit last several months. 5Seems like good quality but with a serious flaw.I've used similar night guards from other brands, but they are always a bit too bulky or otherwise uncomfortable and always seem to wear out faster than they should. So I decided to give this one a try. The fitting process is the easiest I've used, to get a proper fit. This DenTek guard is overall less bulky than others and feels very good in my mouth. So why the two stars? The guard is nowhere near long enough. It doesn't come close to reaching my last pair of molars. When I wake up in the morning after using this guard, I can feel an obvious and alarming shift in my teeth. My rear molars are contacting each other more tightly than before. My teeth shift back to the way they felt before throughout the day, but I can't help but think that continuous use of this DenTek guard could cause permanent movement of my teeth. I can't use it and feel like I threw away twenty bucks.UPDATE:My dentist said that as long as my teeth are shifting back to their normal positions in a reasonable amount of time, this guard should be fine to use. My teeth feel normal again after an hour or two, so even though the feeling is disconcerting, I decided to use it. I chewed through the DenTek guard faster than any other I've used before. I don't think it lasted 2 weeks. This thing is garbage, don't buy.1Despues de sacarlo del agua caliente lo meti un segundo a agua fria y rapidamente a la bocaEste es el tercero que compro de esta marca la verdad ed buen precio y si lo haces correctamente te va encantar.5Can still crack toothI've now purchased 3 of these (about every 3 months I get a new one)PRO: It's small enough for a woman's mouth so it's comfortable rather than feeling like a sport mouth guard. Also, these are much cheaper than getting one at the dentist for $12,000CON: I cracked my back molar while wearing one of these so it won't protect your teeth if you clench or grind really hard at night.4Fantastic dental plate for grinders20 years ago when I was grinding my teeth I had one of these made by the dentist of $300.00 and my dog ate it. This time around I thought I would try one first from amazon as these are not sold in Australia (probably some monopoly by dentists). It arrived within a week to Australia (way to go Amazon). I carefully followed the instructions and the first time I tried it on I realised I had not bitten down hard enough with the plate in. Second time (and the packaging warns you can only remould twice) I bit down very hard and left in for thee minutes while it hardened. Wella - perfect. It stayed in all night, didn't disturb me, I didn't pull it out, and I love it. Would highly recommend, and I will be buying again.5Go for the Dental DutyI bought this product because they sold me on the professional fit and molding process. But the fit and molding process were sub par compared to the dental duty product i bought.1They are very sturdy, a little bulkier compared to the oral-b version ...My boyfriend and I both use these mouth guards nightly for grinding. I do replace them every 8-10 months mainly for hygiene purposes. Out of the 3 that I have had, I did bite through one of them after 8 months. They are very sturdy, a little bulkier compared to the oral-b version but I require ones with a thicker base. No issues with slipping off throughout the night for either of us.For fitting, I follow the instructions but use warm water to rinse before molding it. If I use cold water, the guard will not form a solid impression. If i ever have any problems, I just put it back in the microwave. I do recommend cleaning the mouth guard often, I use soap and water or soak them in listerine. If you have trouble with calcium deposits, we use a water/vinegar solution to clean my boyfriends.5Not professional fit: uncomfortableWhile it does mold to your teeth, this dental guard did not fit well. It is so large that it was impossible to close my mouth comfortably. I couldn t fall asleep with it in because my jaw ached. I tried wearing it for 5 nights before giving up and requesting a refund from DenTek with their 30 Day Money Back Guarantee. After emailing them twice and submitting the proof of purchase they requested, I have still not heard back from them nearly 3 weeks later. Poor fit, terrible customer service.1Started great but broke down quicklyI typically used the bite wing type mouth guard for grinding but was going through them quickly so thought I would try a more sturdy product. This is fairly slim and comfortable in my mouth. It is very easy to mold to your mouth and get a comfortable fit. I was very pleased with the product until just recently. After only a month of use, the hard material on the bottom started to break free of the softer side/upper material and began to irritate and cut the side of my tongue. I had to stop using as it was getting worse. I am trying a second one now to hopefully see if it works better and I just had a bad apple so keeping my fingers crossed.2MAKE IT YOURSELFRelatively easy instructions to make your own bite guard. In just a few minutes, you can make your night guard. I had a lot of jaw pain when I bought this. After only one night of wearing it, the pain decreased. A few more nights and it was totally gone. I am a mouth breather. I find that I have to take a break from wearing this because my mouth gets so dry. It took care of my immediate problem of jaw pain for which I am very thankful.4Only if your options are limited...If you re a college student with low funds or waiting for a replacement because your dog ate the one your dentist made (like me), then maybe... Otherwise, skip this one and get one professionally made. If you do the math on how often you ll need to replace this one, which lacks durability, makes more sense to get a real one from your dentist. Sorry. There s no comparison. And no, I m not a dentist. I just appreciate how a better made mouth guard fits better and helps me sleep better.2For the most part, it works great. Essental use. This is my second purchase of this bite guard. The first one broke when I over bite with my bottom teeth over the top. This caused the front of the bite guard to separate from the bottom. Don't do this. I don't over bite in my sleep so not an issue there. I did it during the day playing games on my computer. It is pretty easy to fit/mold to your teeth. Just follow the instructions carefully. If you screw it up, they will send you a free replacement without you having to send in the screwed up piece. Once fitted, it is very easy to sleep with (at least compared to other bite guards I have tried). It will not fall out, it grabs onto your upper teeth good and solid, like it has a vacuum seal. You have to remove it with you hand. I had a professionally made one several years ago and this one is just about as comfortable. It does take some time to get used to. Make yourself wear it until you get used to it. Then you won't even notice at night. I wear mine during the day sometimes when I play games. I get stressed out sometimes. And it is important to use a bite guard if you are a grinder. I wish I would have used one more regularly when I was younger. Now my teeth are brittle. I have lost two teeth due to brittle teeth now at age 50. I am trying to avoid dentures now.4It's just like the one my dentist sold me for over $300 ...I thought this was going to be a "one size fits all" kind of thing. But, it's actually custom fit to my teeth! It's just like the one my dentist sold me for over $300 a few years back. Reading the instruction all the way through and understanding what you need to do is crucial. You get up to three chances or more with diminishing returns (so it's written), but I followed the instructions carefully and was able to get satisfactory fit the first time. After putting it on, while I'm awake, I feel the presence of it and it's tempting for me to chew on it. But, with some deep-breathing and deliberate relaxation exercises I fall asleep and obviously not aware of it any more then. The only way this can be made better for me personally is to make it so thin that I don't feel it's presence. But, is that even possible?5excellent grind guard I have been using this for 3 months and it only has very slight signs of wear which is surprising as I grind pretty hard according to my dentist (who recommended this). I bought another grind guard from "The Doctors" brand and it was horrible, painful and hard to wear. I got used to this one from Dentek within just a week and actually missed it when I was sleeping in a hotel and forgot to pack it. I will buy another one soon (as regular replacement is suggested) but this is a great product especially for the money spent compared to a professionally made one for hundreds of dollars. 5Great way to save money and avoid being ripped off by your dentist!I have been using this product for a decade or more, and it just gets better with each improvement. My first dental guard was custom-made by my dentist for a lot of money ($100s, as I recall), and it lasted maybe a year. I decided that was way too much to pay, so I got one of these for around $20. I can now use them for over a year before they wear out. They fit tight and don t bother you at all when you sleep. The formed part does eventually detach from the the flexible plastic outer guard, but that process takes months to complete, and you can still use it till it completely separates. The key is to brush it thoroughly every time you brush your teeth, so it stays clean and sanitary. You can ignore the "don t wear any longer than 6 months" advice, unless you have some peculiar dental problems. I don t, other than bruxism (teeth grinding). One tip: before you heat the new mouth guard and insert it into your teeth, practice a couple of time to make sure you align it properly. I heat it on the stove in water rather than using the microwave, just because I trust that more.Second tip: when you ve heated the mouth guard properly (follow all the instructions), and are ready to stick it in your mouth, don t bite down too hard and also leave just a little bit of room in front of your front teeth for some of the silicone to remain there as you bear down with your bite. If you bite down too hard you will hit the flexible plastic outer guard, and that will weaken the bond of the silicone to the outer guard, shortening the life of you mouth guard considerably. Remember that most of the grinding and wear come from your back teeth, so you want a bit more "cushion" back there than in the front, so think of biting down with more pressure on your front teeth than on your back teeth. I know that sounds weird, but practice it a little, and you will see what I mean.Third tip: once you have bitten down on the new mouth guard, maintain your bite until the directions say to let loose, and very slowly remove the guard from your teeth. It will want to stick at first, and you don t want to yank crowns off as you remove it. If necessary, swish a little water around in your mouth and then ease the guard off your teeth. If things don t work the first time, you can try one more time, but the mouth guard will probably not last as long or fit quite as well, so get it right the first time! Practice!5
